Turning Trash into Treasure
All Kisma Kreative items are hand-made, mostly using materials that would otherwise end up in the landfills. Wherever possible I substitute regular household trash for the more traditional materials and craft accessories, developing new ways of working with these materials in order to create original and unique items. Most of the materials I use are collected by the Grahamstown community who hate to waste anything. It is a challenge I relish, and I am sure that you will find the results inspiring. My aim is to bring recycling into everyday living by making it fun and fashionable. Gone are the days of the obligatory recycled plastic bag macramé pot plant holder.
Among a wide variety of items available from Kisma Kreative you will find products made from old records, CDs and diskettes, tetrapac boxes and snack wrappers, corks, computer keyboards and bottle tops, which are transformed into handbags and purses, clocks, jewellery, mobiles, magnets, bookmarks, gift boxes, lamp shades and much more.
I take great care and pride in each individual piece I produce. Though I am happy to make selected items in larger numbers I do need more time to make them up. As the materials I use are scavenged I cannot guarantee that we will have enough of any given material for a large order at the time it is needed. Each request has to be dealt with as it comes up. Some materials will be easier and quicker to gather so different items will need different lead times.
Please feel free to contact me and we'll do our best to meet your needs.
