Hot Wax Originals
Western Cape - 12 Sonnet Crescent, Brackenfell; PO Box 577, Brackenfell, 7561
We have been in the craft business for about 5 years, but it was only in
the last year or so that we found the product that works for us. We were previously making
hand-carved and painted candles, but people did not want to use them, because as they burnt the candle
all the artwork would burn away too.
We love working with wax: it's easy to shape, carve and paint, so what to do? Well, we are now making African Lanterns. They work like a hurricane candle: the outer shell is made of wax and it is powered by a tea-light; we can do all our carvings and painting on the outside and you can burn the tea-light on the inside without losing the artwork.
We sell the lanterns for R50 each, and instructons are included. We attend the Hout Bay Craft Market every Sunday, as well as the Country Craft Market in Somerset West.
